The Art Space at the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center is a program dedicated to offering the fundamentals of visual arts to creative middle and high school students living in neighborhoods surrounding the Route 9 corridor. This FREE program is application based and is a structured creative training course offering four weeks of drawing classes, four weeks of painting classes, and four weeks of digital art classes. Participating teens will be rewarded in cash at the end of the 12-week course for the time spent in The Art Space in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

Our goal is to empower participating teens to express how their lives matter by providing a physically and emotionally safe space for them to learn, create and socialize. With guidance from master artist James Wyatt, teens will work to develop their own hands-on art program incorporating art history, professional development and life skills, entrepreneurship and more. The program will also include weekly snacks from the Reader's Café, a field trip to a local art museum and a final exhibition to showcase participant's work!
